Radio controls have proven to be one of the most beneficial upgrades to a crane in terms of work efficiency, minimizing maintenance, ease of operation, and operator safety. A typical radio control system consists of a portable transmitter (carried by the operator) and a receiver installed on the crane.
Benefits of radio controls include keeping operators at a safe distance from the load and, due to their small size and light weight, allow operators to be free to move around and rig loads safely and effectively. Radio controls also eliminate down time and costs from damaged wired control pendants. Replacing a damaged radio control crane transmitter with a spare unit is both practical and cost effective, and allows the operator to continue working. Further, they improve efficiency by saving time. With wired control pendants operators must control the crane while avoiding obstacles on the shop floor. Wireless remote crane controls allow for faster crane movement by allowing the crane to be commanded to a desired location, instead of walking the crane to a location as with a wired control pendant.
McLaughlin Hoist & Crane provides sales and installation of of both handheld and “bellybox” radio control systems. Please consult with our experienced sales engineers to choose the best option for your application.
